OUR FABRICS EXPLAINED
AND SUSTAINABILITY
I’m on a mission to make our bridal as sustainable as possible, by using natural breathable fabrics, you won’t find any oil based virgin polyester in my collection.
I make to order, using local seamstresses, not mass production, and I bulk buy my fabrics so there’s less carbon footprint used in shipping, I’m not affected by supply chain issues, that have affected many bridal boutiques.
I only eco friendly packaging, cotton muslin reusable garment bags and recyclable cardboard packing boxes, absolutely no plastic packaging!
SILK
The most sustainable of our fabrics, silk is a natural breathable fabric, which biodegrades easily. Silk is very easy to care for, just pop in a laundry bag on a silk cycle in your washing machine.
-
We use 32 momme weight silk satin, which we have carefully selected for its draping abilities, and glossy satin shine.
-
Pure silk Georgette, a sheer floaty lightweight silk, with a crepe dry handle texture, and a subtle crinkle effect
-
Our Organza is sheer and lightweight with soft crisp feel.
-
A sheer stretch pure silk mesh tulle, wonderfully soft and drapes beautifully.
-
A semi sheer pure silk chiffon, with satin cotton embroidery.
-
A Classic silk fabric, Silk duppion has a crisp structural feel with a textured slightly slub finish
-
30 Momme silk crepe de chine, has been chosen for for those that prefer a matte ( slight sheen) look instead of satin.
VISCOSE
Viscose is made from renewable wood pulp, whilst its manufacturing method isn’t entirely eco friendly, it is still a natural breathable fabric which biodegrades within 3 months compared to 300 years for polyester.
WOOL/ACETATE
Wool/acetate is also made from renewable wood pulp, the addition of wool in the fabric content, helps minimise creasing. It is a luxurious heavyweight but breathable fabric
-
An acetate/ viscose/ and wool mix crepe, a luxurious glossy satin mid/ heavy weight drape fabric, which is breathable, and thanks to the small amount of wool makes it more crease resistant. Available in a darker shade of Ivory.
